If your tree saw isn’t working properly, it has become slow or you need pushing it ahead to cut wood then you need changing its blade. The blade has become dull and for this reason it isn’t able to cut. Look at its blade and you would find sawdust and wooden pieces on the blade.

Maintenance of a tree saw

This tool has a different type of blade called cutting chain. It resembles a cycle chain and it has small steel cutting links that cut wood. It is these steel cutting links that need maintenance. Keep the blade clean and also file the steel blades. Check the blades with hand to determine their strength. Chainsaw chains can be kept in good condition by cleaning and filing.

Cleaning and filing saw blade

Use a cleaner to clean the blade. The cleaner would remove whatever sawdust and small wooden pieces are stuck on the steel links. Second step is filing the links. Check the links one by one to find chipped and bent links. If you find damaged links, you should file those links to bring them into shape. You would need a file to grind the links.

File for grinding links

It could be a manual file with a guide bar. Place the saw blade on the bar and file its links one by one using a round file. Or you can buy an electric file that can grind these links in a hassle free manner. Advantage of using an electric file is that it prevents the user from coming into contact with blade.
